Metamorphosis

The theory of metamorphosis was developed by Goethe in the course of his morphological studies of plants and [[animals}}. As metamorphosis (from Greek: μεταμόρφωσις metamórphōsis "metamorphosis, transformation, reshaping" from ||lang|grc|μετά}} metá "at, with," as prefix "re-" and μορφή morphḗ "shape" → μόρφωσις mórphōsis "shaping, design") in the sense of Goethe, one may thereby designate the transformation of form of a living being in the course of its individual (ontogenesis) and/or phylogenetic development (phylogenesis), even under changing external influences, according to internal laws.
