Higher spiritual truths, such as the retrospection into earlier earthly lives of individual people, are only accessible to intuition. Rudolf Steiner entwickelte ab 1900 die Anthroposophie als Wissenschaft vom Geistigen, ausgehend von der Beobachtung des Denkens nach naturwissenschaftlicher Methode, die er schon in seiner 1894 erschienen «Philosophie der Freiheit» ausführlich dargestellt und in deren zweitem Teil einen auf das selbstbewusste freie Ich gestützten ethischen Individualismus begründet hatte.
