Involution

From AnthroWiki

Involution (from Latininvolvere, to "roll in", to "wrap up") means that a spiritual being gradually withdraws from the outer sensual-material appearance. Involution is the counter-movement to evolution that is necessary from a spiritual-scientific point of view.

„This is the great thought underlying the secret societies, that all progress is based on involution and evolution. Involution is the sucking in, evolution is the giving out. Between these two all states of the world alternate.“ (Lit.:GA 93, p. 122)

„Involution is that which is drawn into us without our consciousness and without our will, under the influence of divine wisdom. Evolution is all that we are to let come forth from it for the outer world through our consciousness and our will.“ (Lit.:GA 94, p. 35)

Evolution, involution, creation out of nothing

„In the revelation, things alternate between evolution and involution. But deeply hidden behind this is the third, which only gives the fullness, a creation that is a complete new creation, which has come out of nothing. So three things belong together: Creation out of nothing, and then, when this is revealed and proceeds in time, it takes on the forms of the revealed: Evolution and Involution.“ (Lit.:GA 101, p. 176)

„In all life the trinity of evolution, involution and creation out of nothing is at work. In man we have this creation out of nothing in the work of his consciousness. He experiences the processes in his environment and processes them into ideas, thoughts and concepts. Dispositions stem from earlier embodiments, but all progress in life is based on the production of new thoughts and new ideas.“ (Lit.:GA 101, p. 260)
