Templeises (Middle High German: Tempeleisen or Templeisen), Grail Knights or Knights of the Holy Grail are the names given to the guardians of the Holy Grail. They are the Grail Keepers, whose community was founded by the high initiate Titurel on the legendary Holy Mountain of Montsalvat in northern Spain. The name Tempeleisen was probably not chosen by chance by Wolfram von Eschenbach in his Parzival epic and is closely related to the Order of the Templars founded in Jerusalem around 1119[1], which carried on the Grail stream[2] and then passed it on to the Rosicrucians.

„The Knights Templar had brought the initiation wisdom of the Holy Grail from the Orient to the mountain of salvation, Mons salvationis, the place of initiation of Christianity. An initiation ceremony pointed directly to the future of the whole human race. It was said: A time will come when Christianity will experience a new phase. - From immemorial times, the progress of human spiritual culture was consciously designated according to the progress of the Sun. Before 800 B.C., the Sun passed through the constellation of Taurus for about 2200 years. Over in Asia, the bull was worshipped as the divine. Even before that, for the same reason, the twins were worshipped in Persia: good and evil, the duality. Around 800 BC, the Sun entered the sign of the Aries or Lamb. The legend of Jason and the golden fleece points to this. Christ calls himself the Lamb of God because he appeared in this sign. [Today the Sun is in the sign of Pisces.] The Templars point to the next constellation; the Sun will then enter the constellation of Aquarius. That is when Christianity will really rise, when paganism will be united with Christianity. This culture will raise a new John. That time will come when the Sun will be in the sign of Aquarius. John is called Aquarius; he will be the herald of a new age of Christianity. It is said that the Knights Templar referred to John the Baptist, not Christ. But the John of whom they speak is the Aquarius.“ (Lit.:GA 92, p. 156f)

„At the time when the Crusades begin, and a little before, we find an important mystery in an area in the north of Spain. The mysteries then present were called the later Gothic mysteries. Those who were initiated into them at that time were called the Tempelisen oder Tempeleisen or the Knights of the Holy Grail. Lohengrin was one of these. The Knights of the Holy Grail represent in their community something that is different from another knighthood. This other knightly community had its seat in England, in Wales. Everything that is told in the Middle Ages about King Arthur and his Round Table is linked to this other initiatory community.“ (Lit.:GA 97, p. 261)

„That was the one: Arthur. The other is: the castle of the Holy Grail. We can only deal with this in a very general way. It is said that the Holy Grail is the bowl in which the Christ Jesus once took communion, the wine, with his disciples and with which his blood was later taken. Then the lance with which Jesus' side was pierced was also brought to Europe. The Grail bowl is located on Montsalvat, where a holy castle was built. The Holy Grail has the ability to grant eternal youth, the power of eternal life in general, to those who are familiar with its miracles, who live with its Sun of Grace.

Again, there are twelve, but now Christian, spiritual knights. The ancient Knights Templar guarded the Holy Grail, and the powers they drew from this guard they used to pour over Europe the spiritual chivalry of the heart, of the inner life. Thus they contrasted the white lodge of secular chivalry, which was moved to Wales, with spiritual chivalry in the castle of the Holy Grail, situated on the Spanish mountain of Montsalvatsch.“ (Lit.:GA 54, p. 437)

„The Tempeleisen were those who represented the inner, the true Christianity in opposition to church Christianity. One can see everywhere in Wolfram von Eschenbach's "Parzival" how he wanted to place the spirit of inner Christianity next to church Christianity.“ (Lit.:GA 97, p. 266)

„A great spiritual individuality worked especially during this time of preparation out of the spiritual worlds on Europe and its mystery places. It is called Titurel. Titurel used the spiritual or worldly leaders of humanity as his tools, and their work can only be understood in this light. These facts are alluded to in legends and myths. The legend of the Holy Grail says that the bowl with the collected blood of Golgotha is brought to Europe by Angels. Titurel receives this bowl. He receives it floating above the European lands, and only after centuries did Titurel descend with it from spiritual heights to earth and found the mystery site of the Holy Grail on the Mountain of Salvation (Montsalvat). He could only do this after some people were ripe to receive the secret of the Grail. Anyone who was ready for this initiation was called a Parzival.“ (Lit.:GA 266a, p. 506f)
