Mental disorder

A mental disorder (also called mental illness or psychiatric disorder) is expressed by a pathological change in perception, thinking, feeling and willing and the resulting behaviour. Mental disorders are among the most widespread diseases worldwide. According to a WHO estimate, about 264 million people worldwide suffer from depression, 505 million from dementia and 20 million from schizophrenia.
