Contents

The focus of this volume is on essays on philosophy and on Goethe as a natural scientist and philosopher, including: Goethe as the father of a new aesthetics - Unified view of nature and the limits of knowledge - Individualism in philosophy - Haeckel and his opponents - Goethe studies. Basic Ideas / Morality and Christianity. In addition, the volume contains a large number of reviews and tributes to personalities who meant something to Rudolf Steiner, such as Herman Grimm, Ludwig Büchner, Johannes Volkelt, Hermann Helmholtz and Franz Brentano. There are also shorter essays on topics that were of interest to the public at the time, such as the question of hypnotism, or on psychology.
