Anthroposophical Spiritual Science and the Great Questions of Civilisation of the Present

Die anthroposophische Geisteswissenschaft und die grossen Zivilisationsfragen der Gegenwart

Nine public lectures in the Netherlands, held in Amsterdam, Hilversum, Utrecht, Delft, The Hague between 19 February 1921 and 6 November 1922, also a travelogue.

This volume contains all the as yet unpublished public lectures from two of Rudolf Steiner's trips to the Netherlands, the first in February/March 1921, the second in October/November 1922. When Rudolf Steiner spoke in February 1921, first in Amsterdam and then in other cities, it was the first trip after the end of World War I that took him to a non-German-speaking country. As the title of the volume indicates, the range of topics covered in the lectures is broad. Steiner's remarks range from the threefold structure of the social organism and the nature of man to philosophical topics and questions of supersensible knowledge in connection with science. A number of documents relating to the context of these lecture tours are included in the volume: Newspaper reports, lecture announcements as well as several facsimiles from Rudolf Steiner's notebooks, also a travel report by Rudolf Steiner and notes on the text. A lecture in The Hague on 23 February 1921 was already printed in GA 304, but has been included here for the sake of completeness.
