Ahriman, also called Angra Manyu (Avestan) or Mephistopheles and referred to in the Bible as Satan, is according to the ancient Persian tradition the power of darkness, the Spirit of Darkness, who opposes the light God Ormuzd (Ahura Mazda) as an adversary.
