Six hundred and sixty-six here stands for the Number of the Beast (Greek: Ἀριθμὸς τοῦ θηρίου Arithmos tou Thēriou), which is also the number of a human being:
„Ὧδε ἡ σοφία ἐστίν- ὁ ἔχων νοῦν ψηφισάτω τὸν ἀριθμὸν τοῦ θηρίου- ἀριθμὸς γὰρ ἀνθρώπου ἐστί- καὶ ὁ ἀριθμὸς αὐτοῦ ἑξακόσιοι ἑξήκοντα ἕξ.“
