Works Councils and Socialisation

Betriebsräte und Sozialisierung

Discussion Evenings with the Workers' Committees of the Large Stuttgart Factories, 1919.

Content

Following the "November Revolution" of 1918, so-called soldiers', workers' and works councils were formed in many parts of Germany. At the invitation of the Stuttgart workers' and employees' committees, Rudolf Steiner gave a series of lectures and answered the questions of the audience in nine meetings, some of which were quite turbulent. Based on the idea of a threefold structure of social life, Rudolf Steiner described the task and importance of a works council to be founded from its own forces, which for him was at the same time the original cell of a comprehensive renewal of economic life.
