Virgin Sophia

In Christian esotericism, the astral body, purified of lower sensual desires and elevated to the spirit self, is called Virgin Sophia, synonymous with the Isis of the Egyptian mysteries, but now in the Christian transformed form as "New Isis", addressed by Goethe in the concluding Chorus Mysticus of his Faust tragedy as the eternal feminine and in his fairy tale as the "beautiful lily".
