This template is for Citation of biblical passages.

Book: The book is one of the common abbreviations according to the Loccum guidelines (see How to cite biblical passages and List of biblical books), for some of the more commonly used books the long name is also supported. Misuses generate an entry on the maintenance page Special:Link list/Template:B/Errors.

Chapter and Verse: Chapter and verse (optional) in the chapter referred to. Multiple verses can also be specified, separated by '+', '-' or ',' for example.

Translation: (optional) If a specific translation is given, one of the abbreviations from this list must be used; the default is the Einheitsübersetzung (EU) is used. In addition, the abbreviation NA can be used to link to the Greek text according to Nestle-Aland, 27th A. and the abbreviation BHS to link to the Hebrew text of the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia.

Note: The template incorporates the Template No selflink, so it can also be used on the page describing the corresponding book. A diversion via Book {{BB|Book|Chapter|Verse}} is no longer necessary.

Other variants

Template:Bible: If you want the quote to appear with parentheses.

Template:BB: If only the passage with link (i.e. without book and brackets) should appear, e.g. to quote a sequence of several passages from a book.

Template:Bpur: If only the external link should appear, but otherwise no text at all.
