The Cycle of Man within the World of Sense, Soul and Spirit

Der Kreislauf des Menschen innerhalb der Sinnes-, Seelen- und Geisteswelt

Contents

This volume contains early lectures Rudolf Steiner gave outside Berlin. In the absence of professional shorthand, these are often summaries or reports recorded in note form. Another planned volume, GA 68d, will document those lectures from the same period that are more introductory to anthroposophy. Some of the lectures included in GA 68b have appeared previously in journals or as individual issues and are made available here as part of the complete edition. The lectures are divided into three subject areas: Birth and Death, Historical Personalities in the Light of Theosophy (Nietzsche, Haeckel, Paracelsus, Wagner, Goethe, Hegel, Tolstoy, and Carnegie), and Special Questions on Natural and Spiritual Science in the Context of Training Issues. A special feature is the author's presentation of the 1904 Basel lecture "Overcoming Materialism According to Newer Points of View." The volume thematically complements the series of lectures held at the same time in Berlin, which are published in the volumes GA 56-59. Thus a multifaceted "reading book" has been created with over sixty texts that vividly document the diversity of Rudolf Steiner's lecture topics.
